ABSTRACT

Background and Aim: COVID pandemic lockdown has been constantly associated with psychological changes which have resulted in an increase in stress level and other diseases. So the main aim of this study is to create knowledge about the lifestyle, sleeping and other changes happening during pandemic situations. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional survey was conducted among the dental population with a sample size of 100 to 150. The survey was done in an online questionnaire pattern through Google forms and circulated. The statistics were done using SPSS software, chi square test was used to check the association and P value of 0.05 was said to be statistically significant. Results: 36.63% responded to intake of vegetables as slight increases and 36.63% responded to significant increase of fruits and vegetables. There were many positive as well as negative changes were observed like increase in screen time and low physical activity were considered to be negative and positive changes like decrease in smoking and drinking alcohol. COVID-19 marginally improved the eating behavior, yet one-third of participants gained weight as physical activity declined significantly coupled with an increase in screen and sitting time. Mental health was also adversely affected. Intake of a balanced diet was significantly increased in females than males. Nearly 42% of them significantly increased their sleeping hours. Conclusion: The increase of COVID virus all over the world at a faster rate may distract people from attention over lifestyle, physical and mental health. The mental issues may result in severe consequences. People must be aware that a healthy lifestyle change may cause severe health issues. A detailed understanding of these factors can help to develop interventions to mitigate the negative lifestyle behaviors that have manifested during COVID-19.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Infection control practices are crucial and important elements in clinical dentistry as there is an increase in the prevalence of infectious diseases globally. Most of the patients are not aware of their health as the incubation period for viral infections are usually long. It is the prime role of the dentist to be aware of the current situation and take preventive measures to safeguard their health. The aim of this survey is to assess the awareness in maintaining good health practices during infection outbreak among dental students. Materials and Methods: An online survey was conducted among dental students to evaluate the knowledge and awareness of the good health practices to be taken by dental students to avoid COVID 19 infection. The study population was dental students, with a sample size of 100. The questionnaire consisted of 12 questions and was shared to the participants using online survey platform. The study was conducted in the month of May, 2020. The statistics done using SPSS software, chi square test was done to check the association and a p value of 0.05 was said to be statistically significant. Results: From the survey, it was evident that 87 % of dental students were aware of the necessary precautions to be taken to protect themselves from infection and also to maintain good health during an infection outbreak, it was also evident that both male and female students were equally aware of maintaining good health practices to fight infection(p-value>0.05). Conclusion: From the survey, it was evident that dental students are much aware of practices to be followed to maintain good health amidst an infection outbreak;it was also evident that both male and female students were equally aware of maintaining good health practices to fight infection. Though most of the dental students were aware of the preventive measures, the most crucial thing is to put it into practice.

ABSTRACT

Today’s artificial intelligence is invading our everyday lives such as digital assistants like ALEXA, SIRI. While we may think about sci-fi imagination when heard about artificial intelligence, the future of Artificial intelligence in dentistry is very real. With the enormous increase in the documented information and patient data, intelligence software and computation of this data is a necessity. While advances in artificial intelligence, neural networking, image recognition, speech recognition, etc have transformed the field of medicine and dentistry in many ways and yet a number of drawbacks, challenges have to be overcome. A self-designed survey study was conducted among 100 individuals of the general population. The questionnaire was designed in the manner to assess their knowledge on the treatment and vaccines for COVID-19 infections. The questionnaire contains a set of 10 questions. These questions were distributed through an online survey link. The study population was well explained about the purpose of this study. The questions were carefully studied and the responses of each individual has been recorded. The results were statistically analysed through an online platform named google forms. The AI has the potential that can be applied in various fields of science. Thus most of participants were aware about the usage of AI in dentistry.

ABSTRACT

Covid19 is a pneumonia associated viral infection that originated from Wuhan city in December 2019. Air pollutants are substances which may harm humans, animals, vegetation or material. Lockdown is a simple optimal control for novel virus covid19 which led to a sharp decline in the PM level across the globe. The aim of the study is to determine understanding the awareness level among people about the air pollution plummets and the role of lockdown in reducing the PM level concerned with pollution. An online survey was conducted with a self structured questionnaire comprising 15 questions which was distributed through the google docs. The sample size of this study is100.The results were analysed by performing the statistical software “SPSS VERSION 20”. The data was represented in the pie chart form. The results of the current survey conducted states that it is evidence that around 80% are aware of the global problem air pollution and among them around 60% of the participants believe that the lockdown one among the preventionary measures taken against covid19 infection led to decline in the air pollution plummets level. It is also clear from this study that 71% of the people are aware of the PM level and among them 76% agree that the lockdown period has led to a fall in the PM level across the globe. The study concludes that the general population possess adequate knowledge about air pollution and its consequences.
